This Monday we had our annual Plough Monday visit from the Mepal Molly Men. Plough Monday is the traditional start of the English agricultural year and is generally the first Monday after Twelfth Day (Epiphany), 6 January. As there wasn't much work around the plough boys would dance for money dragging their ploughs around the villages. The children really enjoyed watching the dancing and then got the opportunity to grab a broom and take part.
In October this year the school were given the opportunity by Vision for Education to enter a writing competition. Miss Eaton our Herons class teacher knew her talented writers were up to the task and so they sent in some of their fabulous stories and......we won!!
Our prize was a performance of the Pantomime Aladdin by the very talented Talegate Theatre Company. The children had a fanastic morning and the production coincided with our Christmas Jumper day to raise money for Save The Children.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
