Expected attendance - 95% and above
Research has indicated that there is a strong correlation between educational standards and good attendance at school.
With the support of parents we have seen some reduction in the amount of time lost through lateness and the taking of holidays in term time and this continues to be a priority for our School Improvement. We rigorously monitor attendance on a four weekly basis. In the event of a concern parents and carers of pupils will be contacted where attendance falls below 95% in any four week period.
Attendance of less than 90% is a real cause for concern and if a child has an attendance of less than 90% then they are deemed to be a persistent absentee.
The school follows the Local Authority guidance regarding holidays. We are required to record all authorised and unauthorised absences. Leave from school will only be granted in ‘exceptional’ circumstances’ in line with the school policy. If you need to take your child out of school you need to complete a ‘Leave of Absence’ request form which is available from the school office.
It is crucial that parents do not take their child, children out of school during the time leading up to their KS1/KS2 SATs tests.
